Parents:
Welcome to the University of Tennessee. During your student’s introduction to the University, you will have the opportunity to make many important decisions to prepare for an easy transition to college life.
The VolCard serves as the University of Tennessee’s identification that provides access to a variety of campus wide services and systems. Some of those include:
- Meal plans
- Library check out
- Library – copiers
- Volprint (printing from computers in the library or labs)
- Vending machine purchase (snacks and beverages)
- Access pre-deposited funds in your VolCard Account
- Campus recreation access (TRECS)
- Purchases of books and supplies
- Access to athletic ticket privileges
- Access to dorm rooms and labs
- Parking expenses
- Off Campus Merchants
For the student’s convenience, Photo Upload is now available. They can upload a personal picture to their account using their NetID and password. They can go to guidelines and directions to submit their photo.
The VolCard provides access to pre-deposited funds when a VolCard Account is opened. This account allows funds to be used to purchase products and services on and off campus. It eliminates the need for cash and checkbooks. Also, the student can access their balance on WebCard Center or MyUtk using their NetID and password. To activate the VolCard Account, simply make an initial, minimum deposit of $15.00. If a student has already been admitted, deposits can be made at this time.
There are a number of ways to facilitate the initial deposit and have the funds available for students to use at their convenience when they arrive on campus.
- Deposits can be made online using a MasterCard, Visa, Discover, or American Express card. (A transaction fee may be applied). Click on Add Money to a VolCard.
- Your student can make deposits to their account by logging on to MyUTK.
Additional deposits can be made using the same methods. A $15.00 minimum is required for payment additions to this account.
Excess financial aid can also be transferred to the student’s VolCard Account. This is done using MyUTK and has a maximum transfer limit of $1000 per semester.
The VolCard Account can be used on campus in all Vol Dining facilities, as well as VolShop, VolTech, Neyland Stadium, and vending machines, just to name a few. Also, participating off-campus merchants accept the VolCard Account as payment at their locations. These funds can be used for food and retail goods, but purchases of alcohol, tobacco, and lottery tickets are prohibited. This program is a great way to provide funds to your student while regulating their use. Visit our page for a list of current merchants and answers to frequently asked questions.
